Armory is a free Bitcoin cold wallet supporting multi-signature. It is an open-source protocol utilizing high-end protection features. Historically Armory is one of the earliest efficient cold storage cryptocurrency wallets. This wallet has a reputation of one of the most secure Bitcoin wallets. Armory doesn't support any cryptocurrency besides Bitcoin (BTC).
Armory allows users to create multiple addresses that can be used for separate transactions or to avoid using the same address for the coins needed for separate purposes. Private keys can be optionally kept offline.
Once a user shares her/his Bitcoin address with others she/he is ready to receive payments. There's a “Receive Bitcoin” button in the Armory interface. After tapping this button user should choose a proper wallet to receive the payment. The address can be copied and pasted or turned into a QR code that can be sent as a text. "Send Bitcoin" option has a bar for pasting of the receiver's Bitcoin address. A user simply fills this bar and sends a certain amount of coins. All transactions are sent and received directly.
Armory has no 2-step authentication feature and doesn't work on mobile devices.
Generally, this is a really good wallet. Very secure, online and offline, GUI is not the best in the world bus does the Job good enough.
But there are downsides:
1.
You need LOTS of fast disk space for the local blockchain processing (>500GB in 2023). Your first blockchain download will take about 24 hours or more and quite som CPU time, depending on your hardware and uplink. When the blockchain database fails, a rebuild also need hours, even on fast NvME storage).
2.
The software did not get updates for years now. It still needs python 2.7 while most modern OSes ship with Python3 nowadays. Compatibility problems are bound to happen.
Bottom line: If you have capable hardware, plenty of disk and you want a secure, offline-capable multisig wallet, Armory may be for you.
If, on the other hand, you just want a fast and easy way to manage your BTC which is available in the very minute you start your client, Armory is not for you.
I have been many troubles with this wallet. I have to say I am pretty new in cryptos world and I chose wrongly this app after one friend recommended it.
I have the block chain and BTC appears but It is impossible to send BTC to other wallet because It shows an ERROR.
Do you know how can I fix that problem?
They need app, that's for sure.
I've seen a really working 2fa. Usually, it bring me problems, but I initiated it here without big troubles.
The don't provide the access to the private key. I feel insecure though.
