HIVE is a fork of the STEEM blockchain a dPOS cryptocurrency that rewards users for creating content.
Steem is a popular blogging platform in the crypto industry where article authors are rewarded with STEEM tokens depending on the popularity of their material.
Hive is a fork of the Steem blockchain, functioning independently of the current chain. At the initial stage, Hive will be an almost complete copy of the Steem code with minor changes. The developers want to return the project to decentralization and bring further development direction to the discussion of the community. All Steem users will receive an airdrop on Hive.
In addition to content and users at the time of creating the snapshot of the state of the blockchain, the balances of STEEM users were transferred to the HIVE blockchain in a 1 to 1 ratio. Currently, over 30 experienced developers are contributing to the new ecosystem, along with many dedicated community members working on various aspects of HIVE. HIVE will remain open source and open to anyone who wants to contribute to the future development of the blockchain of this platform.
If you had a STEEM account before the recent fork, then you now also have a HIVE account, you can log in to both platforms to check and confirm that you have HIVE coins in the same quantity as in the STEEM project. From now on, if you register on one of these platforms, you will only have an account in the platform in which you registered. You will need to create an account in both in order to use STEEM and HIVE separately after a successful fork. You can read more about the HIVE project on the official HIVE project blog.
Since its Fork from Steem, I have been enjoying Hive with good elements of decentralization with contents of any sort on the blockchain.
