  2. What Is MetaMask?

  4. Coinomi vs. MetaMask (details)

What Is Coinomi?

Coinomi is a versatile multi-currency crypto wallet. It was launched in 2014 by George Kimionis. Currently, the brand is headquartered in the British Virgin Islands. Coinomi supports over 1,770 cryptocurrencies and 168 fiat currencies. If we don't consider NFTs, Coinomi supports the highest number of crypto coins compared to other wallets.

Coinomi app can be installed on smartphones (Android and Apple) or computers. The wallet team did a good job ensuring that Coinomi will be a safe wallet. The wallet supports a segregated witness protocol which enhances the security of transactions. All data doesn't leave the user's device. The access can be regained via seed phrase.

On top of receiving, sending, and storing money, Coinomi can be used to buy and exchange cryptocurrencies. This functionality is realized through integration with Changelly and ShapeShift. Another partner is Binance. Coinomi has quick access to Binance DEX. Also, the wallet allows staking coins and has an inbuilt dapps browser. The latter feature is scarce for crypto wallets.

What Is MetaMask?

MetaMask is a wallet supporting ERC-20 tokens, BNB chain tokens, and custom test blockchains. Moreover, this wallet supports NFTs. Considering it, we can conclude that MetaMask supports thousands of assets. However, it's worth saying that, unfortunately, MetaMask doesn't support Bitcoin.

The wallet was created in 2016. Initially, it was available only as a browser extension, an unusual format for crypto wallets. Later, the dev team released mobile apps, too. MetaMask is an HD wallet. It supports NFTs, in-game tokens and collectibles, staking and swapping tokens. To maintain funds' safety, users should keep the seed phrase and beware of phishing attacks.

Types of transactions

Coinomi and MetaMask share almost the same number of supported transactions, but the former offers one more thing: the ability to exchange coins through the partners' services. It makes Coinomi's functionality more diverse.

Transaction fees

Both wallets don't take transaction fees for crypto operations. That's quite a nice feature!

If you are not into NFTs, Coinomi seems to be a winner in terms of supported coins. It supports more cryptocurrencies than any other non-custodial wallet. On the other hand, Coinomi is yet to support operations with NFTs, and we don't know if supporting NFTs will be added anytime soon.
